Notes for contact lens & glasses wearers with eyelash extensions

Eyelash extensions are a convenient and beautiful way to enhance your appearance, waking up in the morning is easier, your eyesight is brighter and applying makeup takes less time or not at all. However, if you are a glasses or contact lens wearer, there are some important nuances that you should definitely know. Proper care and small habits will help ensure that your eyelash extensions stay beautiful for a long time and your eyes feel comfortable and good.

Eyelash extensions and glasses

  1. Eyelash length selection

If you wear glasses every day, you should make sure that the length and curvature of the extensions are appropriate. Eyelash extensions that are too long and have an inappropriate curvature can touch the glass. This makes wearing them uncomfortable and can also have a negative effect on the attachment points of the extensions. Usually, eyelash extensions that are slightly shorter and have a stronger curvature are suitable for people who wear glasses. In addition, the modeling must be chosen carefully.

  2. Cleanliness of glasses

Eyelash extensions, which constantly touch the lenses when you blink, often leave micro-residues of oil and dirt on them. Regular lens cleaning helps prevent both cloudiness and the build-up of bacteria that can irritate the eyes.

  3. Eyeglass frame shape

The big difference is whether you have a deeper frame (which leaves more space between your lashes and the lens) or a very flat frame that sits tightly in front of your eyes. If you wear glasses and want longer lashes, you should definitely talk to your eyelash stylist about it.

Eyelash extensions and contact lenses

  1. Inserting and removing lenses

Putting in and taking out contact lenses requires touching your eyes. Therefore, it is especially important to wash your hands thoroughly before touching your eyes. This will prevent bacteria from getting into your eyes and eyelash extensions.

  2. Dry eyes

Contact lens wearers often experience dry eyes. Since eye drops of any kind should not be used with eyelash extensions, it is necessary to analyze the composition of the eye drops used. Be sure to consult an ophthalmologist if necessary.

  3. Proper care

When applying or removing lenses, avoid pressing down on the eyelashes or applying pressure to the lash line. A little caution will prevent excessive squeezing, bending, and premature loss of the eyelashes. NB! For lens wearers, the lower line of natural eyelashes, i.e. the line closest to the eye, is important! The master can choose the appropriate curvature and length there to avoid sagging over the eyes! And this is especially true when the eyelashes are growing.

General recommendations for both glasses and contact lens wearers:

  • Care products: use only oil-free eyelash cleansing foam intended for eyelash extensions!

  • Don't rub your eyes: with both lenses and glasses, you may want to touch your eyes more than usual, and rubbing your eyes is strictly not recommended with eyelash extensions.

  • Regular maintenance: Visit an eyelash technician at least every 3 weeks to keep your lashes well-groomed and excess growth under control.

  • Open communication with the master: feel free to ask questions and talk about your situation and everyday nuances - this way the master can choose the appropriate length, curvature, and density that best suits you in terms of both your eye beauty and lifestyle.

Summary

Eyelash extensions are great for everyone, including those who wear glasses and contact lenses. You just need to take a few small things into account. The right length and curl, proper hygiene, and eye care will ensure that both your eyelashes and your eyes feel comfortable.
